PREVIEW: SWE Hell for Lycra XII 29/08/15

SWE Hell for Lycra XII – Wrestling Comes Home
29th August 2015
Caird Hall, Dundee

Exactly one month until Scottish Wrestling Entertainment go to the Caird Hall in Dundee. A venue steeped in wrestling history. SWE plan to make this their biggest event to date with top guests, matches and surprises galore.

The original guests set to appear at the event were Hardcore Icon Terry Funk and “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase. However, both pulled out of the event at different times for varying reasons. Ted Dibiase did say he would appear by the end of 2015 to see how “his” company is being run.

The big match of the night will be “Global Hero” Joe Hendry defending the SWE Heavyweight Championship against LJT. LJT has been on the roll of his life right now as he captured the Future Division Championship at Hellbound making this a Champion vs Champion bout.

The 2nd SWE European Tournament will reach its final at Hell for Lycra XII when Scott Renwick represents Scotland against, the Englishman, Saint George. If you cast your mind back to Hell for Lycra X it was also a Scotland vs England final when Rob Cage defeated Ian Ambrose to lift the trophy and give England the inagural win.

A heated affair concludes as new SWE General Manager Bravehart “fights” commentator Chris Duke. Good Ol’ JR coined the term “bowling shoe ugly” and this might just be that. Don’t expect greco-roman headlocks or 450 splashes in this one.

The latest match added is two widely known female grapplers in Europe when Nikki Storm faces old foe Alpha Female. They aren’t strangers to each other so expect some counters and a high chance of Nikki Storm using shenanigans to weaken her taller rival.

It’s animal vs animal when The Jackal faces his biggest challenge to date when he faces Wild Boar. Having just lost the Future Division Championship at Hellbound, The Jackal will be chomping at the bit to take out some anger on anyone and everyone, Wild Boar will only be happy to oblige to get into a fight when they collide on August 29th.

Martyn Stallyon is out for redemption after his exit from Scottish wrestling earlier in the year, he faces someone who is returning to SWE just over a year after his match with Grado from Hellbound 2014. Stallyon has had match of the year candidates the last three Hell for Lycra events with Chavo Guerrero, Marty Scurll and Ian Ambrose respectively. This could be another match of the year.

It’s Italian Massimo Italiano vs American-Japanese rising star and debuting Kai Katana also on the card, this match will add an international flavour to an already stacked event.

Scotty Riccio laid down the challenge at Hellbound for a multi-man ladder match to earn a title match anytime, anywhere, anyplace. A chaotic prospect to say the least and possibly the first of its kind inside the Caird Hall.

With British Legends Marty Jones and Johnny Saint set to appear, American wrestler Kai Katana making his Scottish wrestling debut, internet sensation and former WWE star Colt Cabana returning plus Chyna is coming to Dundee. It’s going to be a night to remember.

With more still to be determined, keep an eye on the SWE Facebook Page for more information.
