The Gordon Perspective: ICW Friday Night Fight Club Preview

Sunday December 20th 2015

ICW head back to the home of Insane Championship Wrestling, The Garage in Glasgow, for another Friday Night Fight Club taping on December 20th.

Eight great matches have been signed and, if the last taping is anything to go by, we could be in for another awesome night of action.

Relatively new to ICW is Michael Chase, who will have his toughest challenge to date as he faces the resident Iron Man, Joe Coffey. Coffey faced Lionheart last time out and will be looking to chalk up another win on his way to his usual Iron Man challenge early next year.

We also have a match with two guys who love to fly off the top rope a lot in matches as they collide in an interesting encounter, those individuals being Wolfgang and Kenny Williams. Wolfie faced Damo while Kenny teamed with Davey Boy at the last tapings.

A match that stands out for me is the encounter between Tommy End and Big Damo. Damo will be looking to get back in the ICW World title picture, while End will be wanting to grab a big win and put himself up there in line for a shot in the new year.

The match that I think will split the crowd on the night will be the battle between “Big Kink” Jack Jester and, the Master of Mind Games, Mikey Whiplash. These guys have put their bodies through hell over the last few years and they last met at Fear and Loathing VI when Jester won the heavyweight title in a bloody war that went all over the Glasgow ABC. This match will definitely not stay in the ring and we could see a fair bit of blood being spilled over The Garage during this match.

We have four title matches on the night including a Women’s Title encounter between the champion, Viper, and the lady claiming the belt is totally hers in the “Queen of Hardcore” Kay Lee Ray. This has been a rivalry that has been brewing since Kay Lee beat Viper in Nottingham in the semi-final of the Women’s Title Tournament and then Viper being added to the mix in the final by Mick Foley at the SECC. Hopefully there is no outside interference during, which should be, an outstanding match.

Title match number two sees the “Bad Boy” Liam Thomson against Davey Boy for the Zero G Title. This is a great opportunity for Thomson to win singles gold in ICW against a guy who recently won the belt at Fear and Loathing VIII in front of a sold out SECC. Davey will have Stevie Boy on his mind as he is still due a rematch plus they recently battled at the last taping in a tag match.

The 55 get their third opportunity to win the tag gold as they face Polo Promotions, who will be at a bit of a disadvantage, as they were attacked by Fite and Samuels in The Garage two weeks ago and targeted Jackie’s knee. Will it be healed enough to take punishment, will this be the Achille’s Heel for the champions or a target for the challengers as Jackie Polo and Mark Coffey aim to knock back another title defence and keep their remarkable title reign going.

Drew Galloway was due to face Dave Mastiff in the main event but, due to a golf club shot from Mark Dallas at the last tapings, majority owner Red Lightning has said that Mastiff will now face World Champion Grado in a title match on the night as Drew is unable to compete. Will Grado retain the gold or will The Black Label have a plan in place to get Mastiff the belt and have him join up with them?

All will be revealed on Sunday at The Garage.

Take care all and have a good Christmas.
