On Monday, June 5th 2017, World Wrestling Entertainment return to Aberdeen for another night of big name wrestling action. On this occasion it is the developmental brand NXT coming to the Aberdeen GE Oil & Gas Arena (or otherwise known as the AECC) as part of their UK tour which will also include two nights at Download Festival.
This marks the second time in 12 months that WWE have come to Aberdeen which is quietly becoming a hot bed for professional wrestling. Back in November they sold out the AECC with Smackdown Live which included the likes of AJ Styles, Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt (we even reviewed it here.)
Judging by the poster the following are to appear:
The current NXT Champion, Bobby Roode was a mainstay of TNA Wrestling, holding the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and Tag Team Championships on numerous occasions. He made an impact(!) in NXT with his glorious entrance music and bedazzled robes defeating Shinsuke Nakamura to lift the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio.
An imposing stable made up of former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, Nikki Cross & Killian Dain, the faction have a couple familiar faces to Scottish wrestling fans with the former Nikki Storm and Damian O’Connor, as Cross & Dain respectively, in their ranks who have wrestled in Aberdeen in the past.
The longest reigning NXT Women’s Champion, and undefeated, Asuka has been near untouchable in NXT with no loses in singles competition since debuting in NXT back in 2015. Hailed as one of the best wrestlers in the world currently and she’ll no doubt be coming to Aberdeen to continue that undefeated streak.
Plus Kassius Ohno (fka Chris Hero), Aleister Black (fka Tommy End) & Tye Dillinger (who entered at number 10 in the this years Royal Rumble). A big night of action is in store with another sell out expected which will hopefully see WWE make Aberdeen a regular stop on their European tours.
Of course, as always, card is subject to change.
Tickets are available from Friday at 10am.
