WrestleZone Proving Grounds 2017 Preview by Adam Morrison

WrestleZone return to Aberdeen’s Cairncry Community Centre this Saturday night for Proving Grounds. The annual event will showcase the up and coming stars of WrestleZone, with two PBW stars making their debuts in WrestleZone in championship action.

WrestleZone Tag Team Championships
The Rejected (Chris Archer & Mikkey Vago) (c) vs Sterling Oil (Shawn Johnson & Damien)

The main event for this Saturday sees The Rejected putting their Tag Team Championships on the line against the Sterling Oil duo of Damien and the Undisputed Champion Shawn Johnson. After retaining the gold against The Sterling Brothers at Aberdeen Anarchy, The Rejected were allowed to shave their strategist Richard R. Russell bald and he hasn’t been seen since. Shawn Johnson and Damien will be looking to gain retribution over Archer and Vago, as long as they can get on the same page that is. Since the Regal Rumble where Shawn Johnson failed to save Damien from elimination to win the Rumble for himself, The Revolutionary hasn’t been the same person we’ve come to know. After being the only member to not know Crusher Craib was joining Sterling Oil and then being put in harm’s way by Johnson to retain his Undisputed Title, who knows if these two can work together to win tag team gold.

Triple Threat Match for the WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship
Aspen Faith (c) vs Aaron Echo vs Krieger

Three of the best young wrestlers in Scotland face off this Saturday as Aspen Faith defends his Tri-Counties Championship against two of the standout graduates from the PBW Academy, Aaron Echo and Krieger. After retaining the gold against Bradley Evans in Ellon, The King of Catch will have to step up his game in Aberdeen. Aaron Echo has been lighting up the wrestling world as of late, including winning the inaugural Asylum Invitational. Krieger, alongside Lou King Sharp, has been sexy dancing his way to the PBW Tag Team Championships. Could a new champion be crowned at Proving Grounds, or will Aspen remain on top of his throne?

Bradley Evans vs Alan Sterling

Bradley Evans will look to rebound from his unsuccessful attempt at Aspen Faith’s Tri-Counties Championship when he faces Sterling Oil member Alan Sterling. Bradley has been quite impressive since his main roster debut in Montrose a few months ago, defeating fellow training partner Nathan North on numerous occasions. With Richard R. Russell shaved bald as a result of Alan and his brother William being on the losing end at the Beach Ballroom, the former four-time Tag Team Champion will look to defeat the young rookie to remain in Russell’s good books. Otherwise, the future may not be so bright for Alan Sterling.

Zach Dynamite vs Nathan North

Two WrestleZone Training Academy graduates will go head to head this Saturday as Zach Dynamite battles Nathan North. After coming up short in his quest to become the first Tri-Counties Champion back at Aberdeen Anarchy, Dynamite will look to rebound from that loss and perhaps earn himself a shot at Aspen Faith’s gold. Meanwhile, if ‘Vintage’ Nathan North is able to defeat a guy like Zach Dynamite, you would have to think that would do wonders for his career. After recently failing to capture the Tag Team Championships alongside Andy Wild, Nathan could very well be on the fast track to the Tri-Counties Championship with a win at Proving Grounds.

Crusher Craib and Scotty Swift Contract Signing

Ahead of their huge Aberdeen Anarchy 2016 rematch on September 2nd at Battle of the Nations, Crusher Craib and Scotty Swift will meet this Saturday at Proving Grounds for their official contract signing. What will happen when these two meet, with their animosity at its highest?

Tickets to the show are available from www.ringsideworld.co.uk and will also be up for sale on the day of the show. Due to this being WrestleZone’s annual ‘thanks to the fans’, ticket prices have been slashed to £7 for the night. Doors at the Cairncry Community Centre open at 6:30pm, with the action set to get underway at 7:00.
