Bracket Breakdown: Reckless Intent Tag Team Championships Tournament

Reckless Intent Wrestling recently introduced a set of Tag Team Championships in place of the now retired Slam Championship. In order to crown the first champions, there will be an 8-team single-elimination tournament, starting on April 7th in Livingston and culminating on August 4th at Cruel Summer 2018. Here’s my thoughts on the 1st round matches and my predictions as to who will advance!

April 7th at Murieston Scout Hall, Livingston
The Govan Team (Ravie Davie & Cousin Zander) vs High Society (Luke Aldridge & David Devlin)

The first match sees the debuting Govan Team taking on two Paul Tracey Guys in the form of High Society. Ravie Davie and Cousin Zander have been making waves in ICW and GPWA as two charismatic individuals, but don’t let their appearance fool you. They know how to get it done in the ring. Meanwhile, High Society members Luke Aldridge and David Devlin are a pair of guys that will do anything in order to pick up the win to impress Paul Tracey. Two very different pairings.
Prediction – High Society

April 21st at Twechar Healthy Living Centre, Twechar
The Age of Orion (Michael Chase & Theo Doros) vs Lucha Scotland (Solar & Falcon)

Match two sees The Age of Orion taking on the high-flying duo known as Lucha Scotland.  Michael Chase and Theo Doros have become two of the backbones in Reckless Intent Wrestling, known for putting on excellent matches. As a pair, they’ve been making trips to companies like ICW and UPW, where they’ve had mixed results. In their quarterfinal match, they face Solar and Falcon. These two aren’t afraid to use the ropes to their advantage and strike from any angle, a move that could possibly help them advance in this tournament.
Prediction – The Age of Orion

April 22nd at Gilmerton Miners Welfare & Social Club, Gilmerton
Bear & Beers (Jam O’Malley & Jarek Nowak) vs Divinity (Justin Deed & Brandon Adams)

April 22nd sees a battle between two unique teams, to say the least, as Bear & Beers go toe to toe with Divinity. Jam O’Malley is perhaps one of the more crazy stars in Scottish wrestling, while Jarek Nowak recently became the new UK Champion. Divinity members Justin Deed and Brandon Adams are another strange group. Alongside former UK Champion Delsin Dayre, the trio attacked Bear & Beers in Livingston last month after defeating them earlier in the show. Who’ll be able to pick up the win this time around?
Prediction – Bear & Beers

May 5th at Murieston Scout Hall, Livingston
The Purge (Stevie James & Krobar) vs The Headbanders (Jackie Grady & Rob Mills)

The final quarterfinal match will see the debuting Purge take on The Headbanders. Stevie James and Krobar have been on an absolute tear in promotions such as GPWA, RNW and ICW, where they almost became the Tag Team Champions last month. Their opponents are Reckless Intent regulars Jackie Grady and Rob Mills. The pair recently made their debut for Discovery Wrestling as part of January’s Disco Derby, although neither came out on top. In my opinion, this could be match of the tournament, depending on the semifinals and finals.
Prediction – The Purge

Following this, the final four teams will advance to the semifinal matches on June 2nd and July 7th, before the champions are crowned at Cruel Summer on August 4th in Livingston.

Who do you want to see crowned as the inaugural Reckless Intent Tag Team Champions?
