On Saturday 21st April, Wrestling Experience Scotland brings their show to Tarbert to help raise funds for Clachan Village Hall Development Fund. Our wee village on the Kintyre Peninsula is tiny but we have a big heart and our hall is the hub of the community. Well used and well loved, but badly in need of upgrade and repair. We were asked to come up with ideas for events and being huge wrestling fans we decided to try to bring shows to us rather than us travelling all the time. It is tough, though, and with other companies cancelling shows in the area, trust in wrestling promotions is low here but Wrestling Experience Scotland have really pulled out all the stops again following on from our sold out show last year, with a card which is mind-blowing.
First up we have The Purge versus Lucha DS and Soldato and there has been real excitement around this thanks to the spats which have occurred on social media. Lucha and Soldato even recording a cracking promo for the match. Check it out online. It’s great fun. Last year The Purge boys wound up the locals with their “hillbillys” remarks and they haven’t forgotten…or forgiven!
Next we have The Sam Barbour Experience versus Thatcher Wright. Sam is loved in Tarbert and Thatcher is booed everywhere but in Tarbert? Not sure, lots of Tories in this neck of the woods. Could be interesting to see the reaction.
Ravie Davie versus Kez Evans is bound to be a cracker. These guys have been slamming one another on Twitter for weeks and it all comes to a head in Tarbert. I have a feeling this might spill out of the ring. Ravie went down a storm last year as he and Zander ‘The Govan Team’ defeated The Purge.
Stevie Boy takes on Leyton Buzzard and this should be very interesting. Stevie arrives on a massive high but so did Lionheart last year and Leyton scored the win in a HUGE upset. Stevie is adamant it won’t happen to him but I’m not sure. Lionheart was raging last year, ripping up foam hands and slapping sweets out of people hands, don’t be surprised to see Stevie in trouble in this one.
Kay Lee Ray versus Kasey could headline any show in any promotion. When we decided to do wrestling shows we wanted to make sure we always had a women’s match, not least because our Eilidh is in training at the PBW Academy. We know we are very lucky to have secured such an outstanding match and can’t wait for this one.
Our main event will be a wild tag match with four of the UK’s top talents colliding in Tarbert Village Hall. Wolfgang and BT Gunn team up to take on Jack Jester and Lionheart. Last year Jester and Wolfgang brawled all over the hall and even ended up on the street. This year could be even wilder. This has all the potential to be a really fun match.
It has been a tough time for our area. In January, Tarbert lost two fishermen when their vessel, The Nancy Glen, sank. The community has showed remarkable resilience and raised a phenomenal amount of money for the families. Last week the men were returned to their families and the funerals have taken place this week. We hope that our show can put a smile on some faces, particularly our children and young people. ICW owner Mark Dallas has kindly allowed for the ICW World Title belt to be at the show and fans can be photographed with the iconic belt for a donation to the Nancy Glen Appeal fund. Many thanks to the ICW guys for this gesture.
Tickets have been selling well but we’d love to see some of our fellow wrestling travelers at the show. So if you fancy a wee Wrestling Road Trip, why not join us in Tarbert on Saturday. Tickets are just £10 or why not fill a car and grab four tickets for £30. Mon Doon!
