Five Picks To Win The Drew Galloway Invitational 2018

All the entrants to The Drew Galloway Invitational have now been announced. After the success The Asylum Invitational tournament had last year, it was only right that Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum brought the tournament back for 2018. 16 wrestlers compete to be crowned The Drew Galloway Invitational Tournament winner for 2018.

It’s now named after new RAW superstar Drew Galloway aka Drew McIntyre. The most successful Scottish wrestler to grace the country.

So here’s my five picks to win the 2018 tournament, which takes place on May 11th and 12th at The Asylum in Glasgow.

Theo Doros

The first wildcard entrant was announced as Reckless Intent Wrestling’s Cypriot Superman Theo Doros. Doros has been one of the best kept secrets in Reckless, having now expanded to UPW and making appearances in ICW plus venturing across the border and winning titles. A former RI Slam Champion in Scotland, he might not be the biggest in the tournament but he’s got ridiculous stamina and endurance that puts most to shame.

Damien has been quietly building a reputation in the North East, a former Undisputed WrestleZone Champion, he’s ventured to Edinburgh for Discovery Wrestling in the past but he hasn’t had the opportunity to make his name in Glasgow. The most experienced in the tournament, Damien will have plenty to prove in front of a new audience. He’s wrestled in front of over 1000 people before but an intimate Glasgow crowd have the reputation for being raucous. A dark horse perhaps to break through the ranks.

Irving Garrett

One of the best technical wrestlers in the country with an ever expanding moveset with new and inventive ways to twist and pretzel opponents with relative ease. Representing the Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum, Garrett might not have traveled as much as the others in the tournament but he has a base to wear down opponents and have them in all shapes. Another outsider to win perhaps but one of my favourites from GPWA. Garrett made it to the quarter finals last year but lost to Ravie Davie.

Austin Osiris

The undefeated Austin Osiris isn’t shy about his streak, undefeated for [insert today’s number here] days and forging an alliance with Thatcher Wright, who is also in this tournament, as Better Together. Representing GPWA but in reality Osiris will be representing himself and he won’t be ashamed to admit that. A win here would further extend his winning streak and inflate his ego, a seemingly impossible thought.

Aaron Echo

The inaugural tournament winner, representing the PBW Academy, Aaron Echo returns to defend his crown. He outlasted Jack Dillon, Leyton Buzzard, Ravie Davie and The Sam Barbour Experience to earn the accolade. Since the tournament Echo has become a regular feature in Insane Championship Wrestling, living life from the Echo Bible. He returns with more experience and confidence, could make it two in a row.

What a time to be alive!

So that’s my five picks to win the second Asylum tournament. With a packed line up with wrestlers from GPWA, PBW Academy and Source Wrestling along with the wildcards it’s going to be another wild weekend.
