SPOILERS: Joe Coffey In Action At WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool

During Saturday’s NXT UK TV tapings, Triple H made the bombshell announcement that the inaugural NXT UK TakeOver event would take place on Saturday January 12th 2019 at Blackpool’s Empress Ballroom. The same night, it was confirmed that the main event for that show will see “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne put his WWE United Kingdom Championship on the line against Scotland’s very own, “The Iron King” Joe Coffey.

Since the beginning of the NXT UK brand, Joe has been in a faction known as ‘Gallus’ alongside Wolfgang and his brother Mark Coffey. Together, the trio have ran roughshod over the entire roster. They’ve knocked down names such as Ashton Smith, Mark Andrews, and Flash Morgan Webster, now setting their sights on British Strong Style. That is of course the group consisting of Dunne, Trent Seven, and Tyler Bate. Night two of the tapings featured a contract signing between the pairing, where Coffey put Dunne through a table in vintage contract signing fashion. To cap things off, Gallus defeated British Strong Style in the main event of the night two tapings, as Coffey pinned Bate.

Pete has been an unstoppable champion since capturing the gold from stablemate Bate at NXT TakeOver: Chicago in May 2017, with a reign of 555 days and counting. No-one has been able to stop The Bruiserweight – will Joe Coffey be the one to do so?

NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool airs LIVE on the WWE Network on Saturday January 12th 2019, emanating from the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool. The current card is as follows;

  • WWE United Kingdom Championship: Pete Dunne (c) vs Joe Coffey
  • Tournament Finals to determine the inaugural WWE NXT UK Tag Team Champions: Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) vs The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake)
  • WWE NXT UK Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs Toni Storm
  • No DQ Match: Eddie Dennis vs Dave Mastiff
  • Travis Banks vs Jordan Devlin
