The Gordon Perspective: Discovery Wrestling ‘The Disco Derby’ Preview

by Craig Gordon

Sunday March 3rd 2019
The Jam House, Edinburgh, Scotland.

The second event of the year for Discovery Wrestling takes place on Sunday March 3rd, as they present this year’s Disco Derby.

We don’t just have a rumble style match, we have a Y-Division title match, an unsanctioned match and much, much more.

Here is the rundown of what we have:

UNSANCTIONED MATCH
THEO DOROS VS CHRISTOPHER SAYNT

This rivalry has be going for a while, the hatred between these two wrestlers has brought this match to us and we get a war this Sunday between Doros And Saynt. Doros won a match to stay in the House of Saynt and then clotheslined Saynt after the match. Last time out Saynt attacked Doros in the ring, and backstage.

Doros confronted management at the show, saying “I want Saynt, reinstate him so I can get revenge on him”. So will it be Saynt who finishes of Doros, or will “The Superior Cypriot” take out the man he hates more than anything?

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
CHIEF DEPUTY DUNNE VS KID FITE VS ASPEN FAITH

We have another debutant this Sunday, and it’s the man who wants no fun-aah in wrestling, Chief Deputy Dunne. He faces one half of the Kings Of Catch, Aspen Faith, and one third of Pure Dead Brilliant, Kid Fite.

Faith will be in good spirits after his ICW tag title win with Lewis Girvan recently, while Fite is always in good fettle when in Disco Wresting. Will it be the fun and happy Fite or tag specialist Faith who will win or will they be Dunne for by the Chief?

SHADY NATTRASS VS JOSH TERRY

This is a long running rivalry in Discovery and Target Wrestling as Nattrass has no respect for Terry and has said he will teach Terry a lesson on Sunday.

As for Terry, he was in action last time out vs EL Phantasmo and put on a great showing in defeat, he will be wanting to grab a victory this Sunday against his bitter rival.

KIERAN KELLY VS JOE HENDRY

Joe Hendry is on great form in Discovery and has a title opportunity looming also, but has said to management, when is he getting it, but no reply. So he threw out an open challenge, which has been answered.

Kieran has answered the challenge, and is looking to get more experience so he is the future of the company by beating a top class competitor in Hendry and move on up the ranks towards a title opportunity.

Will “The Prestigious One” continue his good form and stay in contention for the gold, or will Kelly snatch victory on his quest to be the future of Discovery Wrestling?

CO-MAIN EVENT
DISCOVERY WRESTLING Y-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
JOE COFFEY (C) VS LEWIS GIRVAN

This match has been 18 months in the making and it will be a cracker for the live audience in The Jam House.

Lewis Girvan comes in as a former champion, holding the belt for 666 days since he won it from Chris Sabin, but the current champion has had the gold for 533 days, carrying the Y-Division title since beating Lewis Girvan on September 16th 2017.

The Iron King is looking at beating this record, but when Girvan found out that the record was in jeopardy, he wanted to be the man to stop this because if he doesn’t do it, Joe will smash the record and will still be champion till the next show in October.

So will it be the best wrestler in Scotland who reclaims the gold, or will it be the Iron King still sitting upon his throne come Sunday night?

CO-MAIN EVENT
DISCO DERBY MATCH FOR THE DISCOVERY WRESTLING WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

This years showpiece Rumble style match is gonna be so competitive as the champion is at a disadvantage, unless she draws a high number.

Sammii Jayne, who has held the belt since defeating Ayesha Raymond, Session Moth Martina and Lucy Cole in a fatal four way match at Uncivil War in November 2017. A total of 477 days she has had the belt and will be 483 days come her defending it on Sunday. She has 14 challengers including Martina, Nina Samuels and Lucy Cole challenging for the gold, and she will do good to keep it as these girls will be all out to capture the gold from the only ever champion.

Also Hotter Than Hell beaten finalist, Chris Renfrew will be in attendance. What will he say to the Discovery universe as we haven’t seen the inhabitant from Silent Hill since he lost out to Andy Wild.

All I can say is it will be an amazing afternoon of action, and hopefully the crowd get a show they can be talking about all the way till October, when Discovery makes its return.

Enjoy the show if you go.
