There’s a buzz in the air as Aberdeen Anarchy is now just one month away. It’s set to be a monumental evening for all involved, with former WWE superstar PAC in action against Zach Dynamite. Before we return to the Beach Leisure Centre however, we’ve got a rumble to get through – a Regal Rumble to be specific. This year’s winner won’t have long to wait for their Undisputed Championship opportunity, with just 28 days between the date of the Regal Rumble and the date of Aberdeen Anarchy. So, who’s ready to rumble?
2019 Regal Rumble Match
Announced Entrants – Scotty Swift, RUDO Lightning, William Sterling, Kaden Garrick, Ted O’Keefe, Alan Sterling, Dino Del Monte, Lewis Girvan, Blue Thunder, Grado, Bradley Evans, Aspen Faith, Mr Malice, Johnny Lions, Crusher Craib, Mikkey Vago, Ryan Riley, Thatcher Wright, Chris Archer, Zach Dynamite, Caleb Valhalla, Jason Reed, Mr P, Andy Wild, and Connor Inglis
For the ninth year in a row, the Regal Rumble Match will see a plethora of WrestleZone stars enter the fray, all in the hopes of securing their Undisputed Championship match at Aberdeen Anarchy. This year will see six men making their Regal Rumble Match debut – Ted O’Keefe, Ryan Riley, Caleb Valhalla, the returning RUDO Lightning, the debuting Thatcher Wright, and the most recent name out of the WrestleZone Training Academy Connor Inglis. Alongside them, we have two former winners in the form of Scotty Swift and three-time winner Crusher Craib. I could go on for hours and hours speaking about the accolades of the men involved in the match but instead, here are my five picks to win it all;
Jason Reed – For those that have been keeping up to date with the site over the last nine months, you’ll know that my main pick to win this year’s Regal Rumble Match is Jason Reed. He took something and ran with it, the chants that dominated the audience at last year’s Regal Rumble Match of “Donald Trump”. Fast forward to Battle of the Nations and Reed had embraced his resemblance to the US President, proclaiming to be on a mission to Make WrestleZone Great Again. With wins over Scotty Swift, Bryan Tucker, and Shawn Johnson in recent months, the time is right for Reed to finally win the big one.
Crusher Craib – He’s done it three times in the past – why not make it a fourth? Since the dissolution of Sterling Oil, Crusher Craib has been even more destructive than before. demolishing everyone in his path. The story that could be made if Crusher and Damien were the Aberdeen Anarchy main event goes way back. Even though he’s failed to win both the Undisputed and Tri-Counties Championships in recent months, Craib has all the chances to win his fourth Regal Rumble Match.
Grado – Whenever he’s announced for the Regal Rumble Match, Grado is always a pick to win it. Find someone in British wrestling that doesn’t like the guy. That’s a tough job. Grado has come oh so close to winning the Rumble in the past, having been the runner up in 2017 before being eliminated by Shawn Johnson. He’ll have to fend off Crusher Craib in singles action earlier on in the night, a task that seems almost impossible. If he’s able to pin The Creator of Carnage though, that’ll do wonders for Grado’s confidence in this bout. Not that he needs it though of course.
Zach Dynamite – He may be facing PAC at the Beach Leisure Centre, but just imagine the possibilities if Zach Dynamite won the Regal Rumble too. Would Damien be added to his match with the former Cruiserweight Champion to make it a Triple Threat? Would Zach be forced to make a decision about which match he wanted more? Would he pull double duty? And perhaps most importantly, would Ryan Riley face PAC instead? Mayhem. Plus, he’s got Bradley Evans watching his back. Always good to have a bit of muscle on your side.
RUDO Lightning – A wildcard pick perhaps, but RUDO Lightning has had success in Rumbles as of late, walking away last month as this year’s ICW Square Go! winner. This will be his WrestleZone return and his Regal Rumble Match debut. We all know it’s possible for a Regal Rumble debutant to walk away with the trophy – just last year, Richard R. Russell won the trophy to mark Sterling Oil’s victory for the second year in a row. Could we see another first timer strike big?
It probably won’t be Mr Malice though. Bless his soul.
Triple Threat Match for the WrestleZone Tag Team Championships
Blue Thunder & William Sterling vs The Kings of Catch (Aspen Faith & Lewis Girvan) (c) vs Scotty Swift & Johnny Lions
As reigning Tag Team Champions, The Kings of Catch have found themselves in the middle of the rivalry between the duos of Blue Thunder and William Sterling, and Scotty Swift and Johnny Lions. Thus far, only Swift and Lions have received a shot at capturing the doubles gold. The first occasion came at Christmas Chaos, where William Sterling provided a distraction to allow Aspen and Lewis to retain while the second came at Summerhill Showdown, which saw Sterling and Blue Thunder interfere to attack all four men. The reunion of Sterling and Thunder came as quite a shock, but the latter is adamant he’s only siding with his old Thunder Buddies pal to get back to championship gold, having not held a title since May 2014. Meanwhile, the oddball pairing of Swift and Lions initially came about as The Tenacious One being overly clingy towards The Red Haired Warrior, with Swift now just putting up with Lions’ shenanigans. After all, this will Johnny’s final year as an active competitor. Now, the historians amongst you will remember that it was last year’s Regal Rumble where The Kings of Catch formed in WrestleZone. Will their one year anniversary end with them falling from their throne, or will The Renegade and The Lost Boy continue on their quest down the King’s Road?
Damien & Mr P vs Zach Dynamite & Jason Reed
The Undisputed and Tri-Counties Champions will be teaming up on Saturday night as Damien and Mr P combat the unique pairing of Zach Dynamite and Jason Reed. Damien and Mr P have both proven themselves to be fighting champions, with Damien seeing off a whole host of challengers since winning the title in September (including a mammoth five Triple Threat championship defences), while Mr P has made three defences of his gold since capturing it in December. The man he won the championship from – Zach Dynamite. The two-time (and greatest) Tri-Counties Champion won’t be looking to regain that title quite yet though, seeing as he has a huge match coming up in four weeks time opposite PAC. It’ll be a tough challenge for The Foundation of the Future, so he can’t afford to let Mr P get the better of him here. Plus, you’ve got Jason Reed in the mix, a man who is of course on a mission to Make WrestleZone Great Again. It’s set to be quite the tag team match!
Grado vs Crusher Craib
A first time ever bout will see Grado face the most successful man in Regal Rumble history, Crusher Craib. A battle of the Wee Boot and the Big Boot. The Chubby Wee Chancer is making his WrestleZone return here, with his last appearance coming at Aberdeen Anarchy X in victorious fashion over Kid Fite and Krieger alongside Santino Marella. At the Regal Rumble, Grado’s been the nearly man, being the runner-up in 2017 before being eliminated by Shawn Johnson. If he even hopes to make it into this year’s contest, he’ll need to find a way past Crusher Craib. As of late, The Creator of Carnage has been on a path of destruction like never before. It seems as if the dissolution of Sterling Oil has sent Craib on a mission to demolish anyone with a beating heart. We saw how he manhandled WrestleZone trainee Connor Inglis back at Summerhill Showdown and after failing to win the Tri-Counties Championship back in Montrose, you have to believe his mind is solely on winning his fourth Regal Rumble Match.
Wash Your Mouth With Soap Match
Alan Sterling vs Andy Wild
Alan Sterling made the biggest mistake of his life at Christmas Chaos when he slapped Andy Wild across the face, which came after the one night only tag team partners lost to The Rejected. The Stovie Superman challenged Sterling to a match at Summerhill Showdown but after Wild was unable to make the show, Alan instead picked up a victory over Irving Garrett. Alan and bodyguard Caleb Valhalla would then go on to defeat Wild in a Handicap Match in Montrose last month, a loss that isn’t sitting well with the former Undisputed and Tri-Counties Champion. Claiming that Alan talks too much crap, Andy issued another challenge for the Regal Rumble, with the stipulation being that whoever loses will be forced to wash their mouth out with soap. High stakes at the Northern Hotel!
VIP Ticket Holders Pre-Show
Ryan Riley vs Chris Archer
VIP ticket holders will see a singles bout featuring Ryan Riley and multi-time Tag Team Champion Chris Archer. The Inspirational One has been non-stop campaigning for a match with PAC at Aberdeen Anarchy, despite WrestleZone management already choosing Zach Dynamite as the opponent for The Man That Gravity Forgot. That hasn’t stopped Riley in his mission though, making several members of the WrestleZone roster lose their patience with him. He’ll face a veteran of WrestleZone and also a fellow WrestleZone Training Academy graduate, Chris Archer. The Outcast has had quite a busy two years alongside his Rejected partner Mikkey Vago, trading the Tag Team Championships with the likes of The Sterling Brothers, Proper Mental, and The Kings of Catch. More recently, they’ve been in a rivalry with The Outfit, with both sides picking up wins here and there. This could be an extremely interesting contest and who knows, maybe Riley will finally realise he’s not facing PAC on April 13th. Don’t bet on it though…
Tickets are available from www.ringsideworld.co.uk, priced £15 for VIP, £12 for adults, and £10 for under 14s. Doors open at 6pm for VIP ticket holders and 6:30pm for general admission ticket holders, with the main show kicking off at 7pm.
