Insane Championship Wrestling revealed a few months ago that May 26th and 27th will see them host a two-night single-elimination trios tournament known as the King of Hawners to see who ICW’s most dominant group of three really is. We’ve got established groups, we’ve got recent additions to the roster, we’ve got debuts, we’ve got a group of masked men with no-one aware of who’s under the masks. It’s all kicking off. With just a few weeks to go before the action commences, let’s take a look at the brackets in more detail, as well as who’s more likely to advance forward!
Bad Company (BT Gunn & The Purge (Krobar & Stevie James)) vs The Dallas Mavericks (Joe Hendry, Kez Evans & Ravie Davie)
For the last wee while, Mark Dallas’ troops have been on a mission to make ICW a safer place for all by attempting to remove the hardcore nature and replace it with a clear set of rules for all to follow. Sadly for them, no-one else wants to join them in their venture, especially not the Bad Company lads. These two teams recently faced off at ICW’s second Aberdeen show, with Wolfgang joining his fellow Bad Company brethren while Leyton Buzzard rounded out the field on the other side of the ring prior to his removal from the group. That match saw Wolfgang demolish Leyton with a spear to hand Bad Company the victory so as is normally the case in wrestling, expect to see Joe Hendry, Kez Evans, and Ravie Davie get their win back and head to the semifinals.
Prediction – The Dallas Mavericks
The Anti-Fun Police (Chief Deputy Dunne, Deputy Drake & Los Federales Santos Jr.) vs The Sinky Party (Jack Jester, Sha Samuels & Liam Thomson)
Since the first ICW show of the year, The Anti-Fun Police have been targeting The Kinky Party, all beginning when a video playing on the screens to distract Jack and Sha which resulted in an upset victory for The Nine9. In the following months, Chief Deputy Dunne and Los Federales Santos Jr. have made it their mission to take out the former ICW Tag Team Champions at every opportunity. A victory in a Handicap Match over Jester back in February was the icing on the cake for them. Now, they’re bringing backup in the form of the debuting Deputy Drake to rid ICW of The Kinky Party once and for all. Or should I say, The Sinky Party. Liam Thomson will be joining his pals to fend off the haters of fun, and he’ll no doubt be bringing his sink with him. It’s one of the most dangerous weapons in wrestling y’know.
Prediction – The Sinky Party
The Wild Boys (Andy Wild, Kieran Kelly & Aaron Echo) vs The Power Forward (???, ??? & ???)
This one is quite interesting. On one side of the ring, you’ve got Andy Wild, Kieran Kelly, and Aaron Echo. These guys, Wild and Kelly in particular, have made it their mission to ensure Mark Dallas’ life is a living hell. The head honcho of ICW has made it crystal clear that he doesn’t want the likes of them running amok in his company, but that’s not stopped them once and it likely won’t be stopping them here. In terms of the quarterfinals, The Wild Boys are the team who have the biggest disadvantage. They’re facing the masked trio who’ve been helping Mark Coffey in recent months, beating up anyone they possibly can. There’s no way Wild, Kelly, and Echo can prepare for them, and that could cost them in the long run.
Prediction – The Power Forward
The Kings of the North (Adam Maxted, Damien Corvin & Bonesaw) vs More Than Hype (LJ Cleary, Darren Kearney & Nathan Martin)
The tournament may be taking place in Glasgow, but that won’t the first round from hosting an Irish showcase. The destructive Bonesaw and Damien Corvin make their return to ICW, joined be honorary Kings of the North member for the weekend Adam Maxted. Those three as a collective unit spells trouble for anyone who stands in their way. Just take a look at what Bonesaw and Corvin have been accomplishing in the likes of OTT lately. Pure devastation to anyone who steps in front of them. Their opposition for the opening round is a team I’ve been wanting to come to Scotland for quite some time now, it’s More Than Hype. LJ Cleary, Darren Kearney, and Nathan Martin are without some of the fastest rising stars of the current generation. The fans love them, they’ve got a cracking entrance theme, they’ve got some flashy offence for their opponents. They’re just great. Don’t believe me? Watch this match.
Prediction – More Than Hype
As well as the tournament itself, there will also be several non-tournament matches over the two nights;
Night One: ICW Zero-G Championship – Joe Coffey (c) vs Josh Terry
