Preview: PWI Live In Viewpark – Debut Show

59337382_2395517527166877_6635409908915240960_nScotland has some absolutely cracking promotions on the go at the moment and on Friday evening, it’s set to add another to that list as Pro Wrestling Innovation hold their debut event at the Viewpark Community Centre. Judging by the announced card, this promotion is focusing on the future of Scottish wrestling, featuring plenty of up and coming names but only one or two established names. I guess you could call it a proper mental promotion…

Triple Threat Match
Dylan Angel vs BT Gunn vs Liam Thomson

The inaugural main event for Pro Wrestling Innovation will see a Triple Threat Match between three very different grapplers as BT Gunn, Liam Thomson, and hometown hero Dylan Angel go to war. While both Gunn and Thomson are established names within the UK, Angel could still be classed as an up and comer, even though he’s been honing his craft for a few years now. I had the opportunity to see Dylan live last year at WrestleZone’s Proving Grounds show and if he puts in the same performance here that he did last May, he could easily sneak out with a victory in the back pocket. Sure, he’ll probably take a stiff chop to the chest along the way, but a win is still a win. On the plus side, he’ll have the hometown crowd cheering him on throughout.

Kid Fite vs Daz Black

It’ll be teacher vs student in Viewpark when Kid Fite collides with one of his many, many PBW Academy prospects Daz Black. Since Fite opening this training school, we’ve seen some of the top British names created – Kenny Williams, Noam Dar, Kay Lee Ray, Stevie Xavier, Andy Wild, the list goes on. At the moment, there’s plenty of upstarts starting to break out and catch people’s attention, with one of those names being one Daz Black. From what I’ve been reading on social media, Black is one to watch for the remainder of 2019. Everyone that’s seen his work thus far has been impressed with what they witnessed, a list that includes Kid Fite himself. Having helped in the training of Daz, it gives a bit of an advantage to The Demolition Man here. Despite that though, Black appears to be someone who won’t back down without a fight. If he really is as good as people say he is, this could easily be a match of the night contender.

Lucy Cole Jokey vs Angel Hayze

With Lucy Cole out off the card due to personal reasons, her opponent Angel Hayze will now have to contend with Jokey. At the moment, there’s no doubting that both of these women are two of the top female stars in the country. Angel Hayze has been rising through the ranks of her two main training facilities in the form of the PBW Academy and the Fierce Females Academy, and has been making waves around Scotland under the guidance of Sammii Jayne. Meanwhile, The Twisted Priestess has made her presence felt within the ICW women’s division with a recent victory over Viper cementing her status as the next in line to challenge Kay Lee Ray for the Women’s World Championship this coming Monday. It’s a big weekend for Jokey, and Angel has the ability to bring it all crashing down before it’s really begun.

Dean Ford vs Paxxo

Dean Ford is someone who feels as if he’s underutilised in the Scottish wrestling scene and as a result, he’s hired his very own sports executive by the name of “Big Money” Matt Tyson. Tyson’s first order of business under his new role was to organise an international showcase match for Pro Wrestling Innovation’s debut show – it’ll be Scotland’s Dean Ford against Italy’s Paxxo. The Italian Nightmare is someone who always enjoys putting on a class show for the audience in attendance, something I’m sure he’ll be out to do here. The Prizefighter however cares about nothing more than winning matches by any means necessary. We saw him use a sledgehammer to get the win for him and TJ Rage at a recent PBW show, so who knows what he’ll be capable of with big Matt Tyson guarding him.

Lucha DS vs Davey Blaze

The high-flying Lucha DS finds himself in a difficult situation when he comes up against Davey Blaze. For years, The Scottish Savage has been a dominant force within Scottish wrestling but he appears to have flown under the radar in some fans’ minds. Despite that, there’s no taking away that Blaze can tear an opponent in half if he’s able to connect with that Sparrowhawk spear of his. Lucha DS on the other hand prefers to head into matches with a different mindset, as he flies around the ring like there’s no tomorrow. As the current Undisputed Heavyweight Champion up in Caithness Pro Wrestling and the winner of the 2018 PBW King of Cruisers Match, DS is no stranger to glory. For the debut show of a promotion, this is a match that is sure to leave the fans begging for more.

Open Challenge
TJ Rage w/Charles Boddington vs ???

The man mountain known as TJ Rage wasn’t just going to sit back and let a new promotion open their doors without him on the cards. Together with manager Charles Boddington, Rage has declared an open challenge to anyone brave enough to face him in the middle of the ring. Let’s be honest, whoever does accept the challenge may very well have a death wish. Either way though, there are a few candidates as to who the opponent could be. Lou King Sharp is on the poster without a match currently announced, while Ian Skinner posted something on Instagram with regards to preparing for his PWI debut on Friday. Will it be either of those lads who challenges big TJ?

Tickets are still available from www.ringsideworld.co.uk, priced £15 for the front row, £12 for adults, £10 for children, and £40 for a family of four. Doors open at 6:30, with the action kicking off at 7pm!
